Do not hesitate to talk about bullying in the classroom
Spend time to discuss with the students about bullying and how this affected people’s life negatively. At least, allow them to understand that bullying in school is not allowed. Truly, talking about this topic with students may seem dull. Do not just click and show slides and do all the talking. Think and make creative ways that will allow the student to express their thoughts and feelings.
Be a facilitator and not an expert. Take note of the essential discussions that come out in the group. Allow them to make action plans towards the prevention and eradication of bullying in school. Always give feedback to the school head or principal on the results of the group discussion for further planning and development.
Work with parents
Spend regular time with parents to talk about bullying; it’s effects and action plans of the student to deal with bullying. Allow the parents to be part of the school in coming up with action plans. Advocate and influence parents to take part and be responsible for managing their kids. One important discussion to consider is to dig deep on the causes of children becoming bullies.

Formation of parents and teachers child protection committees
The education sector in the Philippines has a good practice which was also instituted by the government—formation of child protection committees in schools. Each school should have a multi-stakeholder committee. The committee will provide space and opportunities for teachers and parents to develop a plan of action to pursue protection, safe and enabled environment for students.
In addition, the committee monitors the action plans and track the results and measure impacts. The committee can also help in facilitating discussion with parents that needs support, guidance or warnings. The committee can also call for a high level of discipline to violent students in a non-violent way.
Encourage the student to form into groups or clubs that advocate for safe schools and address bullying
Allow students to talk and address issues within themselves. Children have their way of communication. The group can help teachers and parents spread the rules. Children in school will be able to participate. The school can provide training for children that will help them develop their character. Children experience bullying will have a safe place and group to go for support.
Teachers and schools must maintain open communication with students
Allow children to reach and feel that they can find a safe space in you as the teacher. Build rapport with all children. Watch out for signs that they might have experienced bullying. When trained professionals are needed to address the child’s problem, please do so.
Respond and act when you a bullying incident that happened
